The path to becoming a mechanical engineer is long and filled with mathematics that may scare away most people. Just in high school a person should take a wide range of classes including Biology, Chemistry, and Statistics. There are also a few key components in being a successful student and worker in the field, those include having a creative and analytical view of the world as well as being hands on with excellent communications skills. The minimum degree needed to participate in this vast work force is a bachelors. However to be licensed as a professional engineer one must have obtained a bachelors degree from an approved engineering college, have a passing grade on a state examination, and have four years of working experience. The annual median salary for a licensed mechanical engineer is anywhere between $58,000 and $108,000 obviously leaving a large amount of room to grow in this field. In this blog I hope be educating those who take the time to read through it and answer any questions those readers may have in order to expand my own knowledge in this expansive field as well.
Heron of Alexandra created the first steam engine which will become one of the most effective modes of transportation to date. Here at Palo Verde we have a motto known as Going 212. This motto is explained as the difference of one degree. We know that at 211 degrees water is extremely hot but raise that one degree and the water will boil thus producing steam, steam which has the potential to power a locomotive. With feats like these the chance of being able to raise that one degree has become my passion to follow this career path and expand my knowledge in mechanical engineering to change the world.
